August is a Busy Month on the Island!

August actually begins today, on July 31st(!) , with an opening reception for the Island Fiber Artists’ Show, “Come Fall”,  featuring Jeanne Shay, at the Art and Nature Center.  The show will run through August.

 Monday begins the W.I. Music Festival with chamber music  from members of the Milwaukee Symphony (and others), finishing  on August 19th with “Under the Big Top”, showcasing all kinds of Island musicians emceed by our own Cindra and Julian Hagen.  The weekend of August 6-8 will mark the 15th anniversary of the dedication of the Stave Church, along with a Scandinavian Brunch at Bethel Church on Saturday morning, Scandinavian Dance Festival on Saturday evening and more.  The Island Fair is coming up on August 21st, there are at least 4 weddings, not to mention performances at the Red Barn on both Friday and Saturday evenings  and the W.I. Art Association’s “Big Art, Small Frame” show at the Red Cup Coffee House.  Oh, and we have 14 classes with 157 students during the month of August.  It promises to be a fun month ahead!
