Open Studios

Imagine having the time, space and equipment to work on any sort of project you like, at your own pace, as well as take time to enjoy Washington Island whenever you choose.  Whether you are a quilter, weaver, basketmaker, batik artist, papermaker, spinner, knitter, etc., the Open Studio sessions will allow you just that.  In these uninstructed sessions artists will share space, each focusing on their own area of interest, without the distractions or space limitations of working at home.  It’s a perfect opportunity for you to gather with other fiber artists in a stimulating environment to work on what you love to do!  Put in as much time as you want, whenever you want.  The studios will be open 24 hours a day!

2      Open Studio      (May 29 - June 2)
Studio Fee $100

No Instructor     Both the Sophie and Walter Studios will be available for this 4-Day Open Studio session.  Depending on your fiber art choice, equipment needs and studio availability, you may select a preferred studio to work in.  For those of you not familiar with Sievers, the Walter Studio is mainly used as a ‘wet’ studio and the Sophie Studio is our weaving studio, although work space is flexible.

5      Open Quilt Studio      (June 9-14)
Studio Fee $125

No Instructor
The quilter’s dream—one uninterrupted week devoted to designing and piecing a major project, or experimenting with techniques there never seems time to do.  The studio space is yours—to put up designs, sew, lay out quilts for pinning, hand quilt, etc., in the company of other quilters.  We provide the studio, pin-up boards, tables for sewing and cutting; you provide your sewing machine, needed equipment and supplies.
